A gorgeous day, an adoring couple and rolling green meadows that spread out as far as the eye can see, what more can wedding goers ask for? It was our pleasure to film Christy and Greg’s August wedding at Sunset Crest Manor in Chantilly, VA. Together with photographer Amber Wilkie, I think we captured their fun day true to form. I love to showcase how photo and video capture an event, so that prospective couples can see just how different and comprehensive having both photo and video coverage of their day can be. In that spirit, I hope you enjoy perusing Amber’s gorgeous images and watching the fun video montages we created here at Dolce. Congrats to the happy couple!

Farm Fresh Wedding: Leslie & Sean
Every once in a while, a wedding charms you and blows your mind away. You fall in love with the couple, you like everything about their choices, their personalities, their family and friends. You feel a connection that is awkward when you see them again: you act like you’re seeing your long lost friends and they don’t recognize you. Embarrassing! 😉 Anypoos, all of us at Dolce feel this way about Leslie & Shawn, who married last May. We hope you enjoy watching these samples from their film and that this spring wedding on a farm, loaded with personal details, inspires you while you plan your own wedding!
and while that was fun as an intro – here’s the finale highlight reel (which recaps the whole day from start to finish and includes some of the footage you saw above, and many new shots too). I couldn’t decide which to post, what can I say?!
Kate & Josh: A Wedding at Congressional Country Club
We have been shooting at Congressional Country Club for many years and always love working there! Aside from hosting three U.S. Opens and a PGA Championship, the gorgeous facilities and sprawling grounds have also embraced many a couple for whom we filmed their special day. It’s an honor for us to film at a site that has seen many of our nation’s most distinguished politicians discuss policy on its fairways and greens since it was first opened in 1924. On Kate & Josh’s big day this past June 25, we captured the event together with Andrea Jacobson from The Observatory. We love working with Andrea and her team and we highly recommend T.O. to prospective couples! Please enjoy a glimpse of this special site and sweet couple in these photos Andrea has shared with us.

A Dolce Real Wedding: Cynthia & Andrew
This montage turned our super nostalgic for 2 reasons: 1) the bride chose Stand By Me for the music and 2) she’s getting ready at her family home and in her childhood bedroom. I love this! My fave shots include her toes as she’s putting her dress on, and the peek-a-boo shot of her at her bedroom window.

Music for Processionals & Recessionals
Now that Dolce has filmed over a thousand weddings, I feel like I’m qualified to talk on wedding-related topics with some degree of authority. The truth is, no matter how unique you’re hoping your wedding will be, there’s some constancy from one wedding to the next and we can graciously chalk that up to tradition. Being a nostalgic kind of person, I love tradition! But it’s also fun to be creative and to update tradition. Along those lines, I have something to say about music for processionals and recessionals. How about, instead of the ole’ standby (string quartet), you try out an acoustic guitar? Check out this demo video to see if it strikes a chord with you:

Music by Olivera’s. Guitarist Brian Litz is playing the Allegro Maestoso from Handel’s Water Music orchestral suite.
A Terri Eaves Wedding Bash at NMWA – Maya & Steve
Last weekend we had the privilege of shooting a Terri Eaves wedding; she owns and runs Bash, a divine planning company that puts together gorgeous events. Her couple, Maya & Steve, are such a sweet couple and have been a pleasure to work with. Better yet, we captured their sweet life – big time – because there seemed to be an endless succession of Dolce Vita (Sweet Life) moments. Photographer Michael Connor captured many of them as stills and shared some of his images with us this morning. While Maya & Steve’s video is in post-production here, I hope you enjoy seeing a glimpse of their dolce day, compliments of Connor Studios. To see Michael’s blog post about this event, click here.
Thanks to all the wonderful vendors who contributed to this beautiful day! They include: Bash, National Museum of Women in the Arts, Main Event Caterers, Phillippa Tarrant Floral Design, Capital Decor & Events, John Farr Lighting, Da Vinci Strings,Prelude, Dolce Studio Films, Connor Studios.
